A wedge shaped slipper pan is made for the client who cannot lift their hips clear of the bed. The thin leading edge slides under the buttocks with a small roll or a log roll, so a carer can position it without a full lift and without dragging the skin.
That shape matters for clients with pressure risk, pain on movement, or hip and spinal precautions, where the usual process of lifting onto a deep pan is either unsafe or simply too painful to attempt. It also reduces the physical demand on the carer doing the positioning.
It is autoclavable, so it can be properly sterilised between users in a facility, and it stands up to repeated cleaning in a home setting too. As a reusable item it suits clients who need a pan on a daily basis.
