The A13 Ultrasmart Sport folds and unfolds itself. Press the remote, or use the Bluetooth phone connection, and the chair does the work, which takes a step out of every car trip for people with limited hand strength, shoulder pain or poor balance, and for carers who are tired of wrestling a frame.
It carries 160 kg on a 430 x 430 mm seat with an angle-adjustable backrest and adjustable footrest. Pneumatic 305 mm (12 in) rear tyres, suspension and 61 mm of ground clearance handle everyday paths, and electronic regenerative disc brakes give smooth stops. The chair weighs 29 kg plus a 1.7 kg battery, and turns in an 880 mm radius. Portable Mobility previously sold this model as the D05.
Who it suits
Adults up to 160 kg who can transfer independently and find manual folding hard, or who have a carer who should not be bending and pulling on a frame. The chair is heavier than the manual-fold models, so lifting into the vehicle still needs planning. The prescribing OT makes the final call. Book a trial at home or in one of our showrooms.
