The A06 Classic is where the Freedom Chair range starts. It is a straightforward electric folding wheelchair for someone who wants powered mobility for shopping, appointments and outings, without paying for carbon fibre or extra adjustment they will not use.
The frame weighs 21 kg without its 1.6 kg lithium battery and folds down for the boot. Twin 200 W brushless motors give a speed of 1 to 7 km/h and about 15 km on one battery, or 30 km with a second. A curved backrest, a double-hinge extended footrest, rear suspension and fixed anti-tips round it out.
Who it suits
Smaller adults up to 115 kg who can transfer independently and sit well in a standard seat, and who mainly drive on footpaths, in shopping centres and around the home. People who need more weight capacity, adjustable seating or pneumatic tyres should look at the A08, A08L or A09. The prescribing OT makes the final call.
