The Icon I2 is Forte’s entry-level static pressure care mattress, and the one to reach for when the job is preventing a first injury rather than treating one. It is made in Armidale, New South Wales.
Three foam layers: an Airoform memory foam top that lets the body sink in and spreads contact pressure, an open-cell mid layer for postural support, and a firm foundation that stops the client bottoming out when the bed is raised to sitting. Strengthened sides give a firm edge for transfers and for a client dressing on the side of the bed, and the hinged construction follows a profiling bed. The Advantiflex Classic cover is waterproof, vapour permeable, anti-microbial treated and wipes clean.
It suits a client at low to medium risk who still moves in bed and gets in and out with light assistance, at home or in residential aged care. It is a preventative surface, not a treatment surface: a client with an existing injury, or one who cannot reposition at all, needs a higher level of pressure care. A heavier client should go to a firmer Icon model.
