The Empulse M90 turns a client’s own manual wheelchair into a power assisted one by replacing the rear wheels. The chair stays the chair they are used to, with the same seating and the same footprint, and the drive comes from the wheels themselves.
It suits a client who can still propel but is paying for it in shoulder pain, fatigue or a world that has shrunk to what is within easy pushing distance. Hills, headwinds and long footpaths become manageable again, and carers pushing a chair up a ramp get real help on the climb.
The wheels come off with quick-release axles, and the batteries lift out of each wheel, so the chair can go in a car boot in pieces a carer can lift. Batteries are approved for air travel. Settings are adjusted through a phone app, so assist levels can be tuned for the client without a service visit.
