The SMOOV One is a compact drive unit that docks on the back of a rigid or folding wheelchair and pushes the chair along. The client steers on the front castors as usual and controls speed with a wireless dial at the armrest: turn it up to go, tap it to stop.
It suits an active self propelling client with good hand function who wants to cover distance without wearing out their shoulders. The drive wheel swivels, so the chair still handles a camber and turns without being fought, and the unit undocks in seconds for a car boot or a flight.
A phone app records trips, changes settings and runs the AutoSpeed function, and there is a USB-C port on the unit for charging a phone, which earns its keep on a long day out. Two small brackets are all that stays on the chair.
