The Tinkham is the sling to reach for when extension, tone or involuntary movement makes a standard sling unsafe. The thoracic section wraps firmly around the trunk and closes with a buckle, so the client is held inside the sling rather than resting against it, and there is no way for them to push their way out of the top during a lift.
A soft padded neck roll and head support hold the head without pressing on it. The leg sections are divided and fully supportive, hip tapes are fitted as standard with provision for a second set, and two modesty straps are included, one between the legs and one across. It attaches with loops to a loop-style spreader bar.
Choose Superfine Plus for a smooth, quick drying fabric that also suits bathing, or mesh for an open weave that drains fast in the shower. Both wash hot and tumble dry on low. The size range covers paediatric through to adult.
It suits a client with cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury or a neurological condition who pushes into extension, has spasms or has little trunk control. The wrap and buckle are what stop them sliding out mid lift. A client who is settled in a hoist and copes with a standard full body sling does not need this much containment and will transfer faster in a general purpose sling with head support.
