A client with strong extensor patterns is hard to hold in a sling. They push back, the hips slide forward, and what should be a routine lift turns into a carer holding a moving person mid air. The Silva Balance is Silvalea’s answer to that, built with counterbalance straps so an active client can move during the lift without tipping the sling out of shape.
It is a full body sling with full head support, divided legs and a waist support fitted as standard. Fixed colour coded loop tapes sit on the outer leg tapes, so the same setting can be repeated by different carers. Silva-Superfine Plus is a soft spacer fabric with two-way stretch and soft binding, and it is suitable for bathing. It takes a hot wash and a low heat tumble dry. Thrive stocks the XX-Small through to Medium sizes.
The clients it was designed for are children and adults with cerebral palsy or another condition producing strong extensor thrust, who push into extension when lifted and are hard to hold in a seated shape. It also suits an active client who wants to move their arms and shift position during a transfer rather than be carried passively.
