The Robooter X40 suits clients who want one chair for indoor spaces and rougher ground outside. Its 254 mm (10 in) omnidirectional front wheels roll sideways as well as forwards, and a 760 mm minimum turning radius helps in hallways and kitchens. Pneumatic 254 mm (10 in) rear tyres and 70 mm of chassis clearance help on grass, gravel and uneven paths.
Top speed is 6 km/h and the range is up to 25 km. The removable lithium battery comes in 20 Ah or 10 Ah sizes and charges in 4 to 6 hours. The chair climbs slopes up to 10 degrees, steps over obstacles up to 45 mm and is rated IPX4 against water. The side arms adjust in angle.
Who it suits
A client up to 120 kg who can transfer and sit without postural support, and who wants a capable outdoor chair that still folds. At about 41.8 kg it is a heavy chair to lift, so check how it will be transported before choosing it. Clients who need tilt, pressure management or specialised controls are better served by a complex rehab powerchair, and the final choice rests with the prescribing OT.
