The Rifton TRAM is a transfer and mobility device for a client who has some weight bearing ability but cannot stand or step safely on their own. It is used where a full hoist is more than the person needs and a manual assist is more than the carer should attempt.
It is built to the Australian and New Zealand standard for hoists for transferring disabled persons, listed above. For therapy teams it has a second use beyond transfers, because supporting a client into standing and stepping is often part of the programme rather than just a way to move them.
