This is the seating module of the Rifton Activity Chair: the seat, the backrest and the seatbelt, ready to mount on a Rifton standard or hi/lo base. It is what you order when the base is sound but the seat is worn out, when a client has grown out of the size they started in, or when you are building a chair from components rather than buying it complete.
Seat depth adjusts in small steps, backrest height adjusts through a useful range, and hip guides narrow the seat when a client needs closer pelvic control. Tilt-in-space and back angle are set at the base, so the client can be tipped back for rest or brought forward for feeding and table work without changing their position in the seat.
Who it suits
A child or adult who needs a supportive, adjustable seat for feeding, schoolwork and therapy and who is either replacing a worn seat on an existing Rifton base or building a chair from components. Choose by the user’s overall height, then check that seat width, depth and height suit them with room to grow.

- Seat and back only; base, arm supports, pads, laterals, harnesses, headrest and footboard are separate components
- Rifton codes: small R821, medium R841, large R861 (adjustable seat and back with seatbelt); a version with back spring is also available
- A mini kit reduces the small seat to 180 mm wide and 180 mm deep for very small users
- All Rifton Activity Chair components fit both standard and hi/lo bases
