The MovingStar Berlin pairs a light carbon fibre frame with a higher 136 kg capacity. It weighs 15.5 kg without the battery and folds to 750 x 340 x 900 mm, so it travels in the car and stores in a hallway or wardrobe. For a client who wants powered mobility on outings but needs more capacity than the lightest travel chairs, it is a strong option.
Larger 305 mm (12 in) rear wheels and 178 mm (7 in) front wheels help on paths and kerb ramps, and the chair steps over obstacles of 25 mm or more. Top speed is 6 km/h and the range is about 10 km or more per charge. The seat is 410 mm wide and 400 mm deep with a front seat height of 490 mm.
Who it suits
A client up to 136 kg who can transfer and sit without postural support, and who wants a folding chair that a carer or family member can lift into the car. It has a standard seat and back. Clients who need tilt, pressure management or specialised controls are better served by a complex rehab powerchair, and the final choice rests with the prescribing OT.
