Some clients need more than a stool in the shower: a firm seat, a backrest to lean on and arms to push up from. The Homecraft heavy duty aluminium shower chair is built for a heavier user, with a reinforced tube frame that does not flex during a transfer.
It suits a client with a larger build, or anyone who needs a stable chair set high enough to stand from after a hip or knee replacement. The curved, slotted seat drains rather than holding water, and the sliding legs let you set the seat to the client’s knee height. Those legs run on uncoated internal tubes with brass pins, so they will not corrode or fill with water the way a cheaper chair can.
It is light enough for a carer to lift in and out of the recess, and the chairs stack for storage, which helps in a shared bathroom. It is a static chair though: a client who cannot step into the recess, or who needs to be wheeled over the toilet, needs a mobile shower commode instead.
