This sling supports the client through the pelvis, seat and lower trunk, with the back panel finishing low. It suits a client who carries their own head and shoulders comfortably through a lift and who moves quickly between chair, bed and toilet during the day.
Keeping the back low leaves the upper body free to move, which helps clients who want to take part in their own transfer, and helps carers working in tight bathrooms where there is little room to reach behind a person. The leg sections are padded and the sling attaches with loops, so it works with the hoist or ceiling motor already in place.
Head and shoulder control is a requirement with this design, since neither is supported. An occupational therapist should confirm the fit and the client’s trunk control before it goes into a plan.
