About this product

The Akces-Med Kidoo is a positioning chair for children who need postural support to sit well enough to eat, learn, play and take part. Rather than one fixed shape, it is a frame you build the fit around: pelvic belt, hip pads, lateral supports and a Hexagon Pro headrest come with the chair, and the seat height, armrests and tilt angle all adjust.

Tilt in space is the feature therapists tend to use most, because it changes the seating angle for a child who fatigues in upright sitting without breaking the postural set-up you have just built. Five sizes mean the same chair can be prescribed from early childhood through to the teenage years, and the settings can be reworked as the child grows or as tone changes.

The upholstery is medical grade, breathable, waterproof and stain resistant, so it wipes down after meals and therapy. A knee abductor block, tray, height and angle adjustable foot support and a mobile base with footrest are available as options, and the Joy Table fits it.

Who it suits

A child with cerebral palsy, hypotonia or another condition affecting trunk and pelvic control who needs a supported seat at home, kindergarten or school. A child who needs a fully contoured or moulded seat, or who needs to be pushed outdoors, will be better served by a specialist seating system or a paediatric wheelchair.

Good to know

  • Sizing is by the child’s measurements
