A knee abductor is a small piece of hardware that solves a common problem: legs that cross, scissor or fall together once the child fatigues in sitting.
It sits between the knees and keeps the lower limbs apart at a set separation, which protects hip alignment over the long sitting hours of a school day and makes nappy changes and clothing management easier for carers. Keeping the legs apart also gives the pelvis a wider, steadier base, so the trunk above it has something to work against.
The abductor adjusts for position and lifts off entirely without tools, so it is there for the sessions where it is needed and out of the way for transfers. Sizes follow the chair sizes.
