A flat fixed footplate assumes the client’s ankles sit square and their legs are the same length. Plenty do not, and the foot ends up hanging with the weight going through the back of the thigh instead.
These moulded footplates replace the standard fixed plates on a Raz mobile shower commode. Each plate angles for plantarflexion and dorsiflexion and slides fore and aft, so you can set the foot flat and supported where the client’s ankle range and leg length actually put it. One screw per plate does the adjusting, so a carer or technician can fine tune it without a workshop.
They fit the standard Raz swing away hangers, so the footrests still swing in and out and lift off for transfers. This is the usual choice for a client with cerebral palsy or after stroke, or where there is a plantarflexion contracture or a leg length difference. If the calf needs supporting as well, the Raz elevating leg rest has its own angle and depth adjustable plate.
