The Acekare Yomper+ mounts to the rear of a manual wheelchair and drives it, so the client keeps their own chair and their own seating and stops having to push. It is run from the EasyGo wireless Bluetooth handset, with five speeds across indoor and outdoor modes, which means the same unit is manageable in a hallway and useful on a footpath.
This version comes with the high capacity battery, so range is not the limiting factor on a day out. The drive unit is light enough to lift into a car boot, lighter again with the battery out, and the battery is certified for air travel and comes with a carry case.
It is a good fit for manual wheelchair users picking up shoulder pain or fatigue from self propelling, anyone wanting to cover more ground in the community, and clients who struggle on hills. It also takes the load off an attendant pushing a heavier client. For someone who is not ready for a powerchair and wants a chair that still fits in the car and on a plane, this is the step to take first.
Good to know
- Fitting to the client’s own wheelchair is required
- Seat width and depth come from the host wheelchair, not the Yomper+
- Included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods
