Plenty of clients want to keep walking but cannot be sure of getting home. The Redgum Steady Stride covers both ends of that trip. Your client walks behind it like a seat walker, using the handles and dual handbrakes, and when their legs give out they turn around, sit down and drive.
Two brushless motors do the driving, with swing away leg rests, an adjustable backrest and adjustable footplates for the seated leg of the journey, and flat free tyres so there is nothing to pump up or repair. The handles set to five heights for a comfortable walking posture, and the handbrakes include a parking function so the seat is stable before the client sits on it. It side folds narrow enough for a car boot and is light enough for one person to load.
It suits clients with limited walking endurance from heart or lung conditions, arthritis, Parkinson’s or general deconditioning who want to walk for exercise and independence but need a way home when they run out of energy. In practice it replaces the seat walker plus transit wheelchair combination, and the second person needed to push it.
