Weighing a bariatric client or anyone unsteady on their feet is a balance problem before it is a measurement problem. The A and D walk on bariatric scale is built around that: a low profile stainless steel platform with tall handrails on both sides that the person holds while they step on and while they stand still.
The platform is wide and long enough to stand square on without shuffling to find the centre, and the surface is non slip. The indicator sits at the top of the rail at reading height, with a plain numeric keypad, so a clinician can enter a tare or recall a function without bending down.
It runs on mains power or batteries, which makes it usable in a room without a convenient outlet.
