A device mount holds a tablet or a phone in front of a client who cannot hold it themselves. For someone using a communication app, a page turner or environmental controls, the mount is what makes the device usable all day, not only when someone is there to hold it.
The cradle has a spring loaded back plate and support cups that grip the device and lock it in, and grip knobs at the back release it quickly when the device needs to come out. The cups are cut away at the ports so charging cables, headphones and switch interfaces stay connected while the device is mounted. A non slip surface and some give in the cradle take the worst of the vibration out of rough ground.
