This is the comfort padded version of the Spex calf strap. It does the same job as the basic neoprene strap, holding the lower legs forward of the footplates, but adds a layer of pressure reducing foam behind the pad.
The foam infill spreads load over a wider contact area and drops the peak pressure where the strap meets the calf. That is what makes it the right pick for a client with fragile skin, poor sensation, oedema or long sitting times, where a thin strap can leave a mark by the end of the day and a mark can become a wound.
The pad is soft and water resistant, holds its shape over time and wipes clean. The strap fastens behind the support and adjusts for depth, so the clinician can set leg position at fitting and change it as the set-up changes. Where more offloading is needed again, the Spex calf panel gives a larger surface area across the calves, and custom sizes are available across the range.
