Fitting a sling usually means rolling the client one way then the other, which is tiring for them and hard on the carer’s back. The Silvalea FastFit uses a divided leg design that goes on and comes off while the client stays sitting in the chair or lying in bed, so the fitting is quicker and the handling is lighter.
It is a full body sling: head, back and legs are all supported. The leg sections are padded for comfort across the femur, the loop attachments are colour coded by length so the carer can repeat a setting, and there is a hygiene aperture for toileting transfers.
You can choose the fabric to suit the client. Superfine Plus is a soft, quick drying polyester for general use. Parasilk is a fine Coolmax fabric that wicks moisture, which is the better pick for fragile or sensitive skin. Both take a hot machine wash and a low heat tumble dry.
It suits a client who is hoisted for every transfer and needs head support, including clients with reduced trunk control or high tone, and it covers bed to chair, chair to commode and toileting. A client who is left sitting on the sling all day is better in an in-situ sling with a smoother back panel, and a client with good head control who only moves between chairs will find a universal sling lighter and faster.
