This is the Cougar powerchair supplied with a powered seat lift. The client raises the seat from the joystick, which puts them at eye level in a conversation, within reach of a bench or a shelf, and in a better starting position for a standing transfer.
Seat elevation earns its place clinically when a client is doing things for themselves that they would otherwise have to ask for: getting a cup out of a cupboard, paying at a counter, talking to a child or a colleague without craning their neck. It also reduces the shoulder load of repeated overhead reaching, which matters for anyone who propels or transfers with their arms.
The rest of the chair is the mid wheel drive Cougar platform: contoured seating with a headrest, adjustable armrests and footrest, and finger controls with speed settings.
