The seca 644 is for weighing people who are unsteady on their feet and need something to hold while they do it. The handrail runs right around the platform, so there is support whichever way the client turns, and the platform itself is large, slip resistant and low to step onto.
The key point is that the handrail is part of the weight sensitive area. A client can lean on it as hard as they like and the reading stays accurate, so staff do not have to ask someone to let go at the very moment they are least stable. For a busy ward, that means one staff member can often manage a weighing that previously took two.
The display swivels a full turn, so it can be read from wherever you are standing. A BMI calculator and a damping system are built in, and transport wheels let the scale be moved between rooms. Measurements can be sent straight into an electronic medical record system or to a printer. Where a client can only stand briefly, a chair can be placed on the platform and its weight deducted.
