Bathing is one of the hardest daily tasks for a family supporting a child who cannot sit unaided, and the Manatee exists to make it safe and unhurried. The child is held in a properly set up seated position with the back and legs adjusted to them, so a carer can wash with both hands.
Who it suits
It is made for children with cerebral palsy at GMFCS levels 3 to 5, and it also suits children with muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions. The seat depth adjusts, so the chair keeps fitting as the child grows through several stages.
Multi functional cushions add head and trunk support where the child needs it, and belts, a pommel and leg supports can be added as tone dictates. It is light, folds flat for storage and can be used on the floor of the bath or lifted onto a height adjustable frame for a better working position.
