Clients assessed at high risk of pressure injury, or with an existing wound that needs offloading, who spend long periods in bed. The ProCair Plus is a full mattress replacement, so it takes the place of the existing mattress on the bed frame rather than sitting on top of it.
The system senses the person’s weight continuously and adjusts cell pressures in real time, so it keeps working correctly when the client loses or gains weight, or when the backrest is raised and load shifts onto the sacrum. The heel zone is independent and can be disconnected to offload the heels completely, which is where a lot of wounds start.
The sealed base is the version to choose where infection control is part of the picture: there is no open fabric underside to trap fluid, and the cover is latex free and wipes down. A quick twist CPR valve dumps pressure fast for resuscitation, there is battery backup if mains power drops out, and a bed exit alarm can be added.
