For a client who can stand and take steps but is unsteady on the way, a walk belt gives the carer something secure to hold. The carer keeps a hand on the belt and can correct a stumble early, before the person is already falling.
The belt buckles at the waist and pulls to fit over clothing. Handles spaced around it let the carer work from the side during a walk and from the front during a sit to stand, and a second carer can take the opposite side when a client needs two.
It is suited to rehab programs, supported walks in residential care and home settings where the goal is keeping the person walking safely.
