About this product

Standing transfers only work if the sling stays where the carer put it. As the client comes up, an unpadded standing sling tends to slide towards the armpits and the transfer turns uncomfortable fast. The Oxford Deluxe Standing sling is padded through the back and underarm sections and lined with a non-slip inner panel that holds it in place as the client rises.

A click-together waist strap adjusts to the client and keeps the sling closed, and the colour coded loops give three attachment positions so the carer can set how upright the stand is and repeat that setting next time. Modesty loops hold the legs together and the webbing strap ends are covered so nothing rubs against skin.

It is polyester, washes hot and dries on low heat or in the air, which keeps it usable in shared settings as well as at home.

Who it suits

A client who can take part in the transfer: bear weight through at least one leg, grip the handles and hold a short stand. Think of a client in rehabilitation after a hip fracture, or someone with MS who needs help to the toilet and can stay seated in the sling once there. It depends on the client being able to push through the legs, so a client who cannot weight bear or has uncontrolled trunk movement needs a full body sling on a passive hoist.
