A parking handbrake lets a child or their carer lock the Malte walker in place. It matters most at transfers, when the child is standing up into the frame or sitting down out of it and the walker needs to stay exactly where it is.

It also helps during class and therapy tasks where the child stands still and works with their hands. With the brake on, the frame stays put as a stable support while they concentrate on the task.

The brake is operated at the handle, so a child with reasonable hand function can learn to set it themselves, which adds a step of independence to their walking routine. It is supplied in sizes to suit the Malte frame it is fitted to.
