A limb sling turns a two person hold into a one person job. Used with a mobile or ceiling hoist, it supports a single arm or leg so the limb stays raised while care is carried out underneath it.
That covers a lot of everyday work: wound and dressing changes, applying and removing compression garments, washing and drying, nail and skin care, and repositioning a heavy oedematous leg in bed. Holding a limb by hand for any length of time is where carer injuries start, and a sling on a hoist removes the sustained load.
