Feet that slide forward off a footplate take the whole seating system with them. The JAY shoe holder mounts to the footplate and holds the foot where it belongs through the day, using two foot straps with a side release buckle plus heel and lateral foot support. It is aimed at clients with moderate to high tone whose feet will not stay put.
Holding the feet, heels and ankles in alignment widens the base of support through the seating system, which helps maintain posture further up the body. It also protects the skin on the heels and the back of the ankle from repeated contact with the footplate edge. The side release buckle means a carer can put the holder on and take it off quickly at each transfer rather than working around a fiddly strap.
Sizes run from extra small to extra large, with padded and unpadded strap options across the range. It is part of the JAY extremity supports family from Sunrise Medical, so lighter needs are covered too: ankle positioning for mild tone, foot and ankle positioning for moderate tone, and Flexi-Feet for clients with involuntary movement.
