When a client sitting in a JAY Encompass back needs head support added, this adapter plate is the part that makes it possible. It fixes to the back shell and gives you a standard mounting point for a headrest bracket, so the head support can be fitted to the seating system already in the chair.
For the therapist, it keeps the head support set up on the same rigid shell that is carrying the trunk, which means head position stays predictable as the client moves through the day. For the carer it is one fitting, done once at set up, with nothing to adjust afterwards.
It is a small component, but it is the difference between an Encompass back that can carry a headrest and one that cannot, so it is worth confirming early in the prescription.
