Homecraft Caring Cutlery puts a thick, rounded ivory handle on a stainless steel head. The shape gives the fingers something to close around rather than something to pinch, so eating takes less grip strength and less wrist movement. The ivory colour is the other half of the point: on the table it reads as ordinary tableware, not as an aid, which matters to clients eating with family or in a dining room.
Pieces are sold separately, so you order only what the client needs: knife, fork, spoon, teaspoon, or a right-handed spoon with an angled bowl for a client who cannot turn the wrist to the mouth. The knife has a rounded, curved blade that cuts with a rocking action rather than a sawing one. Everything is dishwasher safe.
It suits clients with arthritis, reduced hand strength, tremor or limited forearm rotation who can still get food to the mouth given a larger handle.
