Before a bed rail, there is usually a simpler option. The Freedom Cobra Bed Stick is a single upright handle on a flat base that slides under the mattress and is held there by the weight of the mattress and the client, so nothing has to be bolted to the bed.
The curved upright gives a grip point for rolling, pulling up to sit and lowering back down again. It suits a client who can still move in bed but needs something to pull on, or to steady a stand from the edge of the bed, with generalised weakness, arthritis, or while recovering from surgery. The frame is white powder coated aluminium, light enough to move between beds and easy to wipe down, and it goes on either side.
For a client at risk of rolling out of bed, or one who needs a barrier rather than a handhold, a bed rail or a bed pole with a floor plate is the better answer.
