The shallow cell version of the Star Standard Air suits a client who needs air cell pressure redistribution but cannot afford to lose seat to floor height. Sitting lower in the chair keeps footplate position, transfer height and desk access where they were.
The cells are interconnected and inflate from a single valve, so there is one adjustment to make and one thing to check. Air can be reset as often as the client’s posture or condition changes.
It is a sensible option for clients at risk of pressure injury who self propel, who foot propel, or who transfer independently and need the seat kept low.
