Air cushions do their work by immersion, and the CG Air does it with medical grade PVC cells connected by air channels. Air moves in a controlled way across the cushion so the client settles into the surface instead of perching on top of it.
This configuration is the low profile, and the reason to choose it is seat height. Lower cell height gives less immersion than a tall cushion, but it keeps the client low enough to reach the floor if they foot propel, low enough to get under a table, and closer to level with the surfaces they transfer onto. For a lot of clients that trade is the right one.
The single valve inflates the cushion as one compartment, which keeps the daily routine straightforward for a client or carer. Where asymmetric pelvic loading needs to be managed, a dual valve cushion is the version to look at. The design still creates an ischial well and works to limit pelvic migration and posterior tilt, and inflation should be set and checked by a clinician. The incontinence cover is a wipeable outer that protects the cells, and standard and 3D spacer knit covers are also available.
