Showering is where positioning belts get tested. The two-piece Bodypoint Aeromesh Rapid-Dry Bath Belt is made for it: the Aeromesh fabric lets water, soap and air pass straight through, so the belt rinses out properly and dries quickly instead of holding moisture against the skin.
The webbing is soft enough to sit against bare skin. Depending on whether your client pitches forward or falls to the side, it can be fitted across the chest, the abdomen, the knees or the legs. The hardware is picked for wet use: stainless steel grommets that do not corrode, and a side-release buckle with an oversized D-ring that is easier to manage with reduced hand function or slippery hands.
The two-piece layout splits at the buckle, which is faster to release and reposition mid-transfer than a four-point belt. That is the main reason to choose it over the one-piece version when a carer is working alone in a small bathroom.
Frame clamps are used to attach the belt to a shower chair or commode frame and are ordered separately.
