Assisted showering and personal care is one of the heaviest manual handling jobs in aged care, and most of the damage comes from bending. The Arjo Carendo is an electric hygiene chair that raises the client to the carer’s working height instead, so washing, drying and dressing happen standing upright.
The Care Raiser function is the other half of it. The chair tilts the user into a raised, open position so the lower body can be washed and dried properly without a second person holding a leg. The padded arm supports rise with the seat, the backrest is full length and padded, and the seat has a hygiene cut out so toileting can happen in the same chair.
Who it suits
Residents and patients who need full assistance from one or two carers for showering and toileting, Arjo mobility levels C and D. It earns its place in hospital and aged care bathrooms where the same transfer happens many times a day, and in home care where a client is showered by carers every morning.
