Most folding wheelchairs come in one shape and the client has to fit the chair. The AERIS Adjusta works the other way. Seat depth sets from 400 to 500 mm, front seat height from 420 to 500 mm, the backrest from 400 to 460 mm high and 85 to 105 degrees, and the rear axle moves to change the centre of gravity. That lets a therapist set the chair for posture and propulsion at handover, then change it again as the client’s needs change.
The frame is aircraft-grade aluminium from 9 kg. Armrests flip back and lift out, leg rests swing away and remove, and the footplates adjust for angle. The tension-adjustable backrest takes other back supports if the client needs more. Push-to-lock brakes are standard. Drum brakes are an option for a carer who has to control the chair on slopes.
Who it suits
A client who needs more than an off-the-shelf fit but not a custom-built chair: someone with a longer or shorter thigh length, a client who needs the seat lower for foot propulsion, or one whose needs are likely to change. It is crash tested to ISO 7176-19 at its full 136 kg capacity for use as a vehicle seat when correctly tied down. Book a trial and we will set it up with the prescribing OT.
