It gives an immediate warm feeling against the back, which makes the chair far more acceptable on a cold morning, and the non slip surface helps the person stay seated in a good position as they lean back and wash. It clicks into place on the back support and comes off again just as easily, so a carer can take it away to clean it between clients or after an accident.

It is polyethylene, wipes down, and machine washes when it needs a full clean, which suits shared use in a group home or a respite setting. Supplied in grey.
