Showering and toileting a child who cannot weight bear is hard work in a bathroom that was never built for it. This paediatric shower commode is pushed by a carer and takes the child through both tasks in one chair, so the routine takes one transfer.
Who it suits
Children who need full assistance for bathroom routines at home, at school or in respite, and families where the carer is doing the work alone. The arms swing up out of the way, which opens the side of the chair for a board transfer or a hoist sling, and the footrests swing away and lift off so feet are not in the way during the transfer.
The frame is stainless steel for wet areas, the backrest is a three strap design that is quick to clean and easy to get a sling behind, and all four castors lock so the chair stays put over the toilet. The unit is independently tested to the Australian and New Zealand standard for shower commodes.
Note that the padded seat is ordered separately.
