Legs that fall away to the side on an elevated legrest end up unsupported, and over a long day that pulls on the hips and drags the pelvis out of position. The legrest channel adds side support along the legrest of a Configura Bariatric chair, so the lower limbs are held closer to midline while the legs are raised.
For a client with oedema or reduced sensation that is more than a comfort issue. Contained legs stay in the position the elevation was set for, pressure stays off the outside of the calf and ankle, and there is less chance of a limb slipping off the side of the legrest between carer checks.
It is part of the chair, so there is nothing to fasten each time the person sits down.
