The push handle gives the carer something proper to hold when moving a Flamingo or a Swan around the bathroom. Pushing from a fitted handle keeps the carer upright and square behind the chair, with no bending down to grip the backrest, which is where most bathroom back strain starts.
It also gives better control on a wet floor, where a chair on castors can get away from you. For a parent who moves the chair several times a day between the bathroom, the bedroom and wherever the routine happens, that control is the difference between an easy job and an awkward one.
It mounts to the back of the chair and stays there, so there is nothing to fit each time. It is an R82 part, so it takes the load as designed.
