The Air Chair Classic from Cobalt Health is for the client who sits out of bed for most of the day and whose skin cannot take it. Instead of foam alone, air cells are built into the seat and lumbar area and set to the client’s weight, so load is spread across the whole contact area rather than concentrated on the sacrum and ischial tuberosities.
Tilt-in-space, backrest recline and an elevating leg rest mean the client’s position can be changed through the day without a transfer, which is the difference between a repositioning schedule that happens and one that does not. Four large locking castors and rear push handles let a carer move the chair to the lounge, the dining room or the window and lock it where it lands.
Who it suits
Clients in residential aged care, hospital or home care at low to high risk of pressure injury, including people with limited independent movement, palliative clients, and those with existing skin damage who still need time out of bed. The drop-down, multi-position armrests and head wings suit hoist and slide board transfers. The fluid resistant, vapour permeable four-way stretch cover comes off for cleaning, which matters where continence is part of the picture.
