The Alber e-fix E35 turns a manual wheelchair into a joystick-driven powered chair without the client giving up the chair they already know. The manual rear wheels come off, two motorised wheels go on in their place, and a battery pack and control unit mount to the frame.
Transport is the reason most clients choose it over a full power wheelchair. Each drive wheel lifts off without tools, and the battery pack and control unit come off separately, so nobody is ever lifting the whole system as one piece and the host chair still folds into a car boot. Speed is adjustable, the tyres are puncture proof, and it is made in Germany.
Who it suits
An occupant-driven user whose manual wheelchair fits well but who no longer has the strength or endurance to self-propel any distance, and who would rather keep that chair than move to a power wheelchair. It also suits clients who rely on a carer or the family car to get around and need the chair to come apart at the other end.
Good to know
