Easy-hold cutlery is for clients who cannot close their hand around a standard handle: arthritis, tremor, weak grip, or reduced hand function after a stroke.
The handle is shaped so the hand rests in it and the utensil stays put without a hard grip being maintained through the meal. For a lot of clients that is the difference between feeding themselves and being fed, and mealtime independence is usually high on the list when you ask them what they want back.
It looks enough like ordinary cutlery to sit on a table at a family meal or in a dining room, which matters to people who do not want their equipment on display at dinner.
