A Braun splint holds the lower leg in a slightly raised, anatomically shaped channel, which supports circulation, settles ankle swelling and takes the pressure off the heel. That makes it useful alongside compression therapy and as part of a pressure injury plan for a client spending long periods in bed.
Stabilo build it in layers. A memory foam core softens with body heat and takes the shape of the leg, a comfort foam layer underneath adapts to load, and an air mesh layer sits against the skin to keep the surface breathable. The shaping also guards against the lower limb settling into a deformed position.
The outer cover is antibacterial and waterproof and unzips for washing and disinfecting, so the splint stays in service on a ward or in a group home. A terry cover is available as a single client option, and the base is non-slip on most sizes so the splint does not wander down the mattress.
