Some clients only need a wheelchair for outings, appointments and the days when walking is not going to happen. The Freedom Excel Superlite is built for that: a light double braced aluminium frame that a family member can fold and lift into a car without help.
The client can push themselves on flat ground or be pushed by a carer. Quick release rear wheels come off so the chair breaks down further, the backrest folds down, and the polyurethane tyres never need inflating, which removes one job nobody remembers to do. Padded armrests flip up and lift out for side transfers, the legrests swing away and remove, and the park brakes sit below the seat where they stay clear of a transfer. The nylon upholstery is spill proof and wipes down.
Who it suits
A client who needs a light chair for occasional use and a carer who has to handle it alone. It is a standard frame chair without adjustable seating, so it does not carry postural support, tilt or a pressure cushion built into the seating system.
