Lateral supports are what you reach for when a child sits reasonably well front to back but falls consistently to one side. Fitted either side of the trunk, they give the child a boundary to rest against and keep the spine over the pelvis.
The width between them adjusts, so you can start with generous clearance for a child who needs room to move and bring them in over time as tolerance or correction requirements change. That adjustability also means one set can cover a growth spurt or a change in the seating goal without reordering. Contained trunk position tends to free up the arms and improve head control, so children can do more at the table.
They mount to the backrest and match the chair through the size range.
